  • Comprehensive S line Plus specification also now available for all quattro versions, priced at £2,350 above S line - OTR prices from £31,835 to £34,595

The Audi Q3 is the latest beneficiary in the Vorsprung durch Technik brand’s drive to cut engine capacities down to an even more efficient size without paring back performance. The compact SUV has just adopted a new, more compact and even more sparing 1.4-litre TFSI petrol engine which joins the range alongside an attractive and comprehensive new S line Plus specification option.

The new 1.4 TFSI slots in at the entry point to the Q3 line-up as an alternative to the 140PS 2.0-litre TDI model, and shares its exclusively front-wheel-driven configuration. Available in conjunction with SE and S line trim levels priced from £23,870 OTR, it offers peak power of 150PS, delivered between 5,000 and 6,000rpm, and maximum torque of 250Nm from 1,750 to 3,000rpm. It can channel these through either a six-speed manual or seven-speed S tronic twin-clutch transmission.

Paired with the slick-shifting manual transmission, the Q3 1.4 TFSI will reach 62mph from rest in 9.2 seconds (8.9 seconds for cars equipped with S tronic), and can carry on to a top speed of 126mph. Combined fuel economy stands at 47.9mpg, and C02 emissions match the efficiency-focused 140PS version of the 2.0 TDI engine elsewhere in the range at 137g/km (145g/km for S tronic models).

This impressive data helps to position the Q3 1.4 TFSI very favourably in company car terms, its 19 per cent BIK figure equating to a tax liability for a 40 per cent taxpayer amounting to £1,800 per annum (first year).

Permanent all-wheel drive offers an unusually high level of active safety. In terms of tractive force, acceleration and hill-climbing ability on a poor surface it is unbeatable. By distributing the power input from the engine between two axles, higher lateral locating forces can be absorbed when cornering. This enhances lateral acceleration and at the same time ensures the highest possible level of safety.

  • 142,040 UK customers take delivery of new Audi models
  • Record 6.27 per cent UK market share
  • Success achieved through sustainable and carefully managed growth

Audi sales in the UK reached a new peak of 142,040 cars in 2013. This represents a 14.9 per cent year-on-year increase and equates to a record 6.27 per cent share of the market, establishing Audi as the leading premium brand in the UK in terms of sales.

“Naturally I am delighted that we have established this sales record in the UK, but what is even more pleasing is the manner in which we have achieved it,” commented Director of Audi UK Andre Konsbruck.

“We have laid the foundations for further sustainable growth through disciplined management of our brand image, consistent investment in our product portfolio, which now stands at 49 models, and an unswerving focus on delivering an excellent customer experience.”

“Equally importantly, through systematic execution of our sales plans across all of the channels we have achieved this great result without overheating any individual model segment – for a premium brand this is exactly as it should be.”

In 2014 Audi UK aims to consolidate its position with the help of an array of new models, including the A3 e-tron, the brand’s first ever plug-in hybrid, bolstered by a number of significant model updates.
