Early access to order first production versions of fully electric Audi SUV now available to customers placing deposits online or via Audi Centres

  • £1,000 deposit placed online or via UK Audi Centres grants priority order access to production version of Audi e-tron quattro concept, due later in 2018
  • Deposit also opens up access to special events and entry into exclusive competitions
  • 250 e-tron prototypes will cover more than three million miles on four continents as part of the car’s final testing programme

From virtual to reality in just a few mouse clicks. Audi devotees excited by the e-tron quattro concept - an SUV which is the first to carry the genes of Vorsprung durch Technik into the era of fully electric mobility - can not only now view the prototype’s recent Geneva Motor Show appearance online, but in the same browsing session can also secure priority access to the forthcoming series production version by placing a deposit.

The £1,000 deposit towards the first ever series production full EV from Audi can be placed online at audi.co.uk, where it can be accepted via the Audi Store area, within the site:

Place your order now

Or it can be taken by any of the 116 Audi Centres across the country. Depositors will be enrolled in a Priority Order Members Club which will entitle them to be the first to order the series production model. They will also benefit from regular updates on the car’s journey to production readiness, invitations to special preview events and opportunities to enter exclusive competitions. The first of these will be a prize draw to win tickets to the prestigious, invitation-only Audi Polo Challenge taking place this summer.

When the priority ordering system is activated, depositors will immediately be informed of the final UK pricing and specification position and of the options available, enabling them to submit an order via their preferred Audi Centre before the car becomes publicly available later this year. The £1,000 deposit is offset against the purchase price, and is fully refundable at any time.

Those who do proceed will take delivery of the first Audi to be built on the next generation MEB platform, one of the key cornerstones underpinning the brand’s advance towards widespread electrification of the model portfolio. More than 20 electric cars and plug-in hybrids will join the range by 2025, spread across all segments and concepts.

Produced at the carbon-neutral Audi manufacturing facility in Brussels, the premium SUV based on the e-tron quattro concept will offer space for five people and their luggage in accommodation that is similar to that of a typical Audi luxury class model. It will offer a driving range that is favourably comparable with a conventionally powered equivalent, and when this range is exhausted it will be 80% rechargeable in less than 30 minutes at fast-charging stations with up to 150kW capacity. With motive power to each axle it will also offer the all-weather traction advantages of ‘e-quattro’ drive.

All-wheel-drive will be invaluable to the e-tron prototype in the coming months because 250 examples are set to cover more than three million miles on four continents as part of the car’s final testing programme. This is equivalent to circumnavigating the earth 125 times, and is expected to involve around 85,000 hours on the road.

From the cold of Scandinavia and the heat of Africa through the mountainous regions of Asia and the merciless cambers of the Nurburgring to the stop-and-go traffic of major Chinese cities and American highways – the purely electrically powered SUV will have its mettle tested in uncompromising practical tests under the most extreme of conditions from below -20 to above +50 degrees Celsius. In addition, intensive tests of the charging technology are being conducted worldwide – an important safeguarding criterion for battery-electric models.

While the current Formula E season is well underway, the future of the electric racing series has already begun at Audi in Neuburg. The first pre-season test of the new Audi e-tron FE05 for Season 5 (2018/2019) is coming up soon.

The joint electric offensive by Porsche and Audi was launched ten months ago. Now the premium manufacturers are deepening their development partnership and achieving concrete results. The goal of the cooperation, which will create a pioneering architecture called the Premium Platform Electric (PPE), is to shape the mobility of tomorrow together and to put future electric vehicles on the market more quickly.

Dynamic, highly efficient and extremely comfortable: Audi presents the Audi Q8 concept at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) 2017. With this model the premium manufacturer is tapping into a new segment for the full-size class – an elegant alternative to the robust presence of a classic sport utility vehicle. The Q8 concept stands for maximum prestige. It combines the spaciousness typical of an SUV with the emotional lines of a coupe. Propulsion is provided by a powerful, yet highly efficient plug-in hybrid with 330 kW of system output and 700 Nm (516.3 lb-ft) of torque. The concept car is the basis for a production model that Audi will launch on the market in 2018.

  • Daytona 24 Hours to open North American IMSA Series
  • Intercontinental GT Challenge to kick off with Bathurst 12 Hour in Australia

Two weeks following the one-two win in the 24-hour race in Dubai, the new Audi R8 LMS GT4 will now be racing in North America. The audience there will get to see the customer sport race car for the first time in the traditional opening round of the IMSA Series at Daytona from January 27 to 28. Just one week later, on February 4, the Intercontinental GT Challenge will kick off in Australia.

With its product offensive Audi Sport customer racing is strengthening its presence in international motor racing. “While motorsport in many series is still at rest at the beginning of the year our customers are already racing in three international events,” says Chris Reinke, Head of Audi Sport customer racing. “We’re particularly pleased to see how popular our new models already are. The GT3 and GT4 versions of the Audi R8 LMS and the Audi RS 3 LMS are in high international demand.” In Dubai, a total of 13 driver squads relied on one of these three race cars. At Daytona, the touring and the two GT sports cars are competing as well. The Audi R8 LMS GT3 will be battling in the 24-hour race for Audi’s third victory in the GTD class after 2013 and 2016. Team Magnus Racing was victorious two years ago and is returning with an Audi R8 LMS. The cockpit will be shared by three Americans, John Potter, Andy Lally, Andrew Davis, and German Audi Sport driver Markus Winkelhock. Team Montaplast by Land-Motorsport in 2017 just barely missed victory by 0.293 seconds and is going to race with the two Audi Sport campaigners Christopher Mies and Kelvin van der Linde, plus his brother, Sheldon van der Linde, and Jeffrey Schmidt.

As part of the supporting program of the iconic 24-hour race, spectators can expect to see a strong field and thrilling battles in the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge. TCR race cars are admitted for the first time. Five teams from Audi Sport customer racing’s circle are fielding a total of seven Audi RS 3 LMS. In the GS class, three Audi R8 LMS GT4 cars, distributed to two teams, are making their debut. Both classes are contesting a joint 4-hour race.

Australia, Audi will be battling for overall victory seven days later. In 2011 and 2012, customer teams supported by Audi Sport customer racing won the 12-hour classic on the Bathurst race track with the Audi R8 LMS. The challenging roller coaster circuit 200 kilometres west of Sydney will open the 2018 Intercontinental GT Challenge. Rounds in Europe, Asia and North America complete the calendar. Audi in 2016 and 2017 was the overall winner in the drivers’ and manufacturers’ classifications. This year, the four rings are tackling the defence of both titles.

Eight GT3 race cars are taking on the challenge in Australia. Team Valvoline Jamec Pem Racing will be on the grid with five Audi Sport drivers, Kelvin van der Linde, Frédéric Vervisch, Christopher Haase, Christopher Mies and Markus Winkelhock, plus local touring car ace Garth Tander. Audi Sport Team WRT is contesting a race in Australia for the first time. One of the two cockpits will be shared by Audi Sport campaigners Robin Frijns and Dries Vanthoor with Blancpain GT Sprint Champion Stuart Leonard. At the wheel of the second WRT Audi will be last year’s FIA WEC GT Am Trophy winners Mathias Lauda, Paul Dalla Lana and Pedro Lamy together with local hero Will Davison. Three privateer teams from Australia and one from New Zealand are completing the circle of Audi’s customer teams at Bathurst. “This puts us in a good position in America and in Australia for the next two endurance races,” says Chris Reinke, Head of Audi Sport customer racing.
